Saturday
Discover the winter beauty of the surrounding fell area on a two-hour snowmobile safari, with coffee break around an open fire. The rest of the day is yours to take advantage of the great opportunities that Saariselkä offers for sports and recreation.

Sunday
Add a new dimension to discovering the arctic wilderness – try snowshoeing, which affords you a closer look at the untouched nature. Breathe in the fresh air and look for traces that rabbits, foxes, squirrels and snow grouses have left on the snow. The 2-hour trip includes walking both on a trail and in the deep snow, and a break with hot berry juice.

Monday
Dressed in thermal outfit you will be transferred to the starting point of a 4-hours’ husky-safari.
Start the day by making acquaintance with the nice and friendly huskies, and take a ride through the forests and over the fells in a sledge pulled by a team of these well-trained and strong dogs.
Can you imagine a more exciting way to experience the overwhelming peace and silence of the arctic wilderness! Two persons are sharing the sledge of a husky-team, one sitting the other steering. During the safari places will be swapped. Lunch is served around an open fire.
After a special New Year’s dinner, which is served at the hotel, you can try a Finnish method of fortune-telling to find out what the new year will hold in store for you and view the midnight. At the restaurant of the hotel there is an orchestra playing and you can dance until early hours of the New Year.

Tuesday
The Saariselkä region is the centre of the Sami life in Lapland. On your three-hour visit to a local reindeer farm by snowmobiles you will have the chance to learn more about Lapland’s indigenous people, their culture and heritage, and reindeer herding. You will also learn how to throw a Lapp lasso and drive a reindeer-pulled sledge. Coffee break included.

Transfer by private car from Saariselkä to Ivalo airport.
